Looking regal or rocking, yet ensconced in a 1960s mod theme, the visuals of this all-Black model cast are top-notch fashion photography. Not only did W hire Black women, but they were conscious in showcasing varying hues of brown. Henson on the cover, included was a photo spread with only Black models and all of them donning natural (inspired) hairstyles and textures. You will have to use a wire leader for the bigger mackerel. You can catch the smaller ones with a regular mono filament leader but the big ones will bite right through a 30 pound pound leader with little effort. Spanish mackerel are common in the waters all over Florida and they have extremely sharp teeth. A huge Spanish mackerel will be 30 inches and most of the ones that you will catch will be 18 to 24 inches. A 2/0 or 3/0 circle hook is about as big of a hook that I will use for Spanish mackerel. Spanish mackerel can be hook shy sometimes so I like to use as small of a hook as I can for them. What size hooks do you need for surf fishing for Spanish Mackerel? Once they get any bigger than that you will want to switch over to a wire leader or they will cut the line almost every time. You can get away with a 30 or 40 pound mono filament leader for the ones that are under 5 pounds. Bluefish are a very toothy fish so you will need a leader when fishing for them. If you are catching bluefish that are in the 10 pound plus range, then you can go up to a 5/0 or larger hook. You can get away with a 2/0 hook or a 5/0 hook but those are pushing the boundaries on being too big or too small. That size of a bluefish needs about a 3/0 or 4/0 circle hook to catch them with a piece of cut bait. The bluefish that I usually catch in the surf are 5 or 6 pounds. Bluefish are not real picky when it comes to eating so you can get away with a larger hook and not scare them away from your bait. What size hooks do you need for surf fishing for bluefish?īluefish can be caught in Florida up to 10 pounds or so if they are running big but further north they can be twice that size. You will want to use a hook small enough to hook a sand flea or piece of clam or shrimp but not so big that it is obvious to the fish that something is odd about your bait. If you are not holding the rod, then the fish will often swallow the bait, hooks and all. Don’t use j hooks for pompano and whiting unless you plan on holding the rod the whole time that you are fishing for them. That is fine if they are legal keeper size but if they are small, then you just killed a fish for no reason. If you use a j hook style of hook them you will often gut hook and kill the fish. The fish will hook themselves so you do not have to set the hook in other words. The circle hook is your best choice of hook style because they will hook the fish in the corner of the mouth as they swim away with your baits in their mouths. Pompanos and whiting have very small mouths so you should use a 1/0 or 2/0 circle hook with fishing for them. What size hooks do you need for surf fishing for pompano and whiting? ![]() ![]() ![]() Regeneration protects your almighty creature from everlasting destruction. Regeneration is exactly what it sounds like except when it’s not. Regeneration was discontinued for MTG cards due to its complexity and the ambiguity that it brought to the game. Here is the original definition for regeneration: “The next time the permanent would be destroyed this turn, instead, remove all damage marked on it, and tap it. If it is an attacking or blocking creature, remove it from combat.”Ĭonfusing, right? Here’s what’s clear about regeneration: when used, it will protect the creature that uses it from subsequent damage being done. ![]() ![]() After the damage is done, the creature loses the regeneration protection, regains all health, and must be tapped and removed from combat. While it seems straightforward, one could easily squabble over the imprecise wording and its specific implications. We will explore some common questions about the regeneration mechanic below. On current or more recent Magic cards, regeneration has been mostly replaced by the indestructible static ability, which is relatively more simple. While regeneration is a mechanic that is substituted in place of destruction, indestructible static prevents a permanent from being destroyed from damage or anything else that calls “destroy.” Both are powerful moves (otherwise known as abilities) and serve similar functions, but be aware that they are not the same. Regeneration works like all other abilities in MTG. It requires a mana cost and can be cast at any time prior to taking damage.Įxpect it isn’t technically an ability – It is a “Keyword action”. To help clarify the ability, the term “regeneration shield” has become common terminology. When a creature uses regeneration, it obtains a “regeneration shield” for the duration of that turn. It is only activated when the creature is about to be destroyed. However, the shield is not activated when the creature simply takes combat damage, only when it is about to be destroyed. When the creature takes an amount of damage that would destroy them, the regeneration shield is activated in place of the creature being destroyed. Thus, you can’t use regeneration when somebody deals you combat damage if you don’t already have a regeneration shield on you, and regeneration can’t undo the destruction of a creature that’s already been destroyed. At the end of each turn, regeneration shields become inactive and must be removed. When a regeneration shield activates-when a creature takes lethal combat damage and has a regeneration shield-the creature’s health is fully replenished. ![]() No matter how much damage was dealt, or how many times it was hit, the creature regains full health. You can think of regeneration replacing the destruction event, or happening in place of the destruction event, as opposed to the creature being destroyed and then returning from the dead. The best part? You can continue to regenerate! There’s basically no limit to the number of times you can use regeneration-if you have 15 mana and each regeneration costs 3 mana, you can regenerate up 5 times in one game-so long as you are willing to pay the price! Is Regenerate Good MTG? Remember, regeneration does not work on a destroyed creature.Īfter a card is tapped and removed from combat, any card that has used regeneration continues to function in a similar way to a normal card-you can use them, just like before. In reality, it is slightly more complicated. Regeneration is a powerful mechanic, even if it can get annoying or redundant if used repeatedly. MK.REGENERATION XENOSHYFT RULES FULLĪny attack that can prevent destruction and restore full health to a creature is “good” in our book. However, just because it is a powerful mechanic and a good move doesn’t mean that it will always be the most effective or strategically optimal choice. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This isn’t a particularly potent team-up, but it does a perfectly passable job for those looking to stick to one or two tasks at a time and up to seven or eight tabs. Their usage varies across time and space. One example aimed to quantify the frequency of the Spanish pronoun vos as compared with tú, both pronouns meaning “you.” In his study, García-García examined the changing use of pronouns in written works. Unlike Portugal, Spain introduced the printing press and universities to its colonies in the Americas in the 16th century, meaning that Spanish was open to local influences and piecemeal evolution over a more gradual period. In Spanish America, however, rapid transformation of this sort was less common, as the colonies typically had more liberties regarding printing presses and educational institutions. “In Brazil, there was a sudden shift in written language that coincided with the country gaining independence from Portugal in 1822 and correlating with increased local autonomy in printing and education,” said García-García, who is a member of the Digital Humanities Focal Group. ![]() The changes, however, are not uniform across the Spanish-speaking Americas, and instead he found that the “hybridization” and evolution of language varied from place to place.ĭrawing on his past work on changes in Brazilian Portuguese, García-García also noted intriguing differences between the two languages. To answer the question, Cuauhtémoc García-García, a graduate student in Iberian and Latin American cultures, analyzed 900 years’ worth of texts in over a quarter of a million volumes.
